In the classic version of Movie Maker (east.g. Windows Movie Maker half dozen.0) information technology was every bit simple as right-clicking on the first clip and choosing Fade In and and so on the last prune and choosing Fade Out.
In Motion-picture show Maker 2012, the furnishings are still at that place but y'all have to go to the Visual Furnishings tab to observe them. Select the first prune then on the Visual Effects tab you'll accept to search through to observe Fade In From Black and for the last prune, practice the aforementioned matter but with Fade Out To Black. I never understood why they didn't include the right-click shortcut like they had earlier.

Cheers for the respond. I agree with your comment. There is a lot of very basic stuff that should be immediately bachelor with a right click. Sticking the fade out at the bottom of the visual effects, when it should really be at the pinnacle of the animations with all the other transition-type effects, seems a chip daft. It also doesn't help that 'blur from black', which is in the transitions, functions exactly the aforementioned as a fade-in.

In general a transition (animation) happens betwixt 2 clips and an upshot (visual upshot) applies to the full duration of a unmarried clip.
And so a Fade In or Fade Out really doesn't fit cleanly in either category. There are a few transitions that were fabricated to work on the commencement clip and then they transition between an unsaid blackness screen and the clip itself. So a "Blur from Black" works hither. Merely you can't apply information technology to the last clip. Any transition applied hither is betwixt that clip and the one earlier.
Instead the developers implemented a Fade In or Fade Out as a special blazon of effect merely one that only applies to the start or ending few seconds of a clip rather than the whole clip.
It'south actually confusing then I can see how information technology tin exist hard to effigy out.
